The author & the studio
Ricky Eastwell
Ricky Eastwell is an author and the founder of Eastwell Productions, based in Perth, Western Australia. Broken Things is his debut novel.
Ricky lives in Perth, Western Australia, with his partner, Beth, and his three sons, Hunter, Quinn and Fox. With a fourth son on the way, family is a central part of his life. He works as a technology site specialist in the mining sector and finds time to write in the quiet of his accommodation at night, away from home.
Broken Things began as a dream. When he woke, he knew he had to write it down. His personal connection to the story made it the natural choice for his debut novel.
“I hope you enjoy Broken Things. It’s a story that means a great deal to me, and I look forward to sharing what comes next.”

Where the story begins
-
01
People first
Alec and Beth are introduced through the lives they lead, the work they know and the people around them.
-
02
Attention to the ordinary
A repaired amplifier can hold a whole history. A family joke can tell you more than a description ever could.
-
03
Room for difficult questions
The story asks what we owe each other, and what happens when deciding for someone begins to sound like caring for them.
-
04
A world to discover
The opening is only the beginning. The rest of Marlow, and the lives within it, are waiting in the novel.
